We welcome all children ages 2-5 into classrooms, working with each student according to their abilities to ensure their early childhood experience is positive and promotes their healthy growth and development.

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s readiness, we encourage you to schedule a school tour and discuss it with the director during your visit.

Little Fishers Preschool adheres to state student-to-teacher ratios. However, most classrooms have fewer students than mandated with class sizes ranging from 8 to 12 students.

School starts at 9:00 am and is followed by a snack break at 10:00 am.

Lunch is served at 11:30 am for 18-month-old and two-year-old students, and at 12:00 pm for other classrooms.

The playground time is at least 35 minutes every day.

Once a week, there are Chapel, Motor Skills, and Music classes, including Spanish for 3-year-old and Pre-K classes.

The school day ends at 2:00 pm, except for students who are enrolled in the Stay & Play or Enrichment after-school programs.

Bathroom breaks are available throughout the day.

The school doors will open at 8:55 am. To ensure that your child is on time for class, we ask that all students arrive at school no later than 9:00 am and be accompanied by a parent, guardian or authorized person. As soon as your child is signed in, one of our staff members will take them to their classroom. Until then, we ask that children remain with their parents or guardians.

For pick-up, the school doors will open at 1:55 pm. Children will stay in their classrooms until they are signed out by a parent, guardian or authorized person. Checking out your child and saying goodbye signals to the child, parent and teacher that it is time to leave and the child has transitioned from teacher supervision to 100% parental supervision and responsibility.

We understand that potty-training is a gradual process, and it may take some time for children in our 18-month-old and two-year-old classes to master it. Therefore, we kindly request parents to provide an adequate supply of diapers or pull-ups for each school day. This will help us to ensure that their little ones stay comfortable and happy throughout the day.

We expect children in the three-year-old and Pre-K programs to have already learned potty-training skills. This includes being able to communicate their needs, independently use the bathroom, pull up and down their clothes, clean themselves and wash their hands. Throughout the day, there will be several bathroom breaks, and our staff will positively reinforce children’s success in toilet training.

In case a student has a few accidents during the first month of school, we will work with them and their parents to find the best solution. We may suggest moving him/her back to the two-year-old classroom until they have gained more confidence. Once your child can consistently wear underwear with minimal accidents, they will be placed back into their original class

Our 18 month-old and two-year-old classes include a nap/quiet time after the lunch period. Students in these classes should bring a sleep mat to school each day and may bring one small stuffed toy or doll for nap-time. Sleep mats can be brought home at the end of each school week to be washed and brought back to school.

Three Year Old and Pre-K classes will observe a quiet time/story time after lunch.

Students should bring their own snack, lunch and drink each day.

Suggested snacks include: Goldfish or other crackers, yogurt, fruit, vegetables with ranch dip, pretzels, graham crackers and vanilla wafers. Please do not bring desserts like cookies, cupcakes or fruit snacks.

Lunches should be healthy with protein and fruits and/or vegetables. Please do not send candy. Chips or dessert are allowed once a student has eaten their “growing food” first.

Drinks should be water, shelf-stable white milk, or 100% fruit juice.

Please include an ice pack to keep foods at proper cool temperatures or place warm foods in insulated containers.

Little Fishers Preschool is not responsible for your child’s daily nutritional value intake, but staff will encourage students to eat their food.

To celebrate your child’s birthday, please arrange a date with your child’s teacher. You are welcome to visit the class to bring in store-bought treats (no cupcakes) for the class to enjoy after lunch. Treat suggestions include: brownies, Rice Krispies Treats, donut holes, ice cream, and cookies. Please do not bring items containing peanuts or peanut-oil, or prepared where there are traces of peanut. Contact the preschool office or your child’s teacher prior to purchasing treats to confirm.

Children are not allowed to exchange gifts at school. Invitations to a child’s birthday party may be sent in children’s bags if ALL students in the classroom are invited.

Absolutely! Parent involvement in their child’s education is crucial for their success and creates a positive educational experience for all. We warmly welcome parents, guardians, and other guests to visit students during the school day. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, visitors must sign in at the preschool office immediately upon arrival. If you would like to volunteer, please speak with the director or your child’s teacher.

Donations are gladly welcomed and can be made on the Little Fishers Preschool website.

If it becomes necessary to close school, have early dismissal, or late arrival due to inclement weather, the closing policies of Fort Bend ISD will be followed as announced on local television and radio stations. Little Fishers Preschool will notify parents of any changes to school closures.

Staff members will always respond to children in a loving, Christ-like manner that builds self-esteem, nurtures their faith and enhances relationships with other children and staff.

Discipline will be individualized and consistent for each child, appropriate to the child’s level of understanding, and directed toward teaching the child acceptable behavior and self-control. Giving children understandable guidelines and redirecting their behavior helps them to develop internal control of their actions and encourages acceptable behavior.

Harsh, cruel, or unusual punishment of a child is strictly prohibited.

Children who are ill should not attend preschool so that they can fully recover and to prevent transmission to other students. We observe standards set by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

According to national guidelines, students experiencing the following symptoms or diagnoses should remain home:

  • fever over 100 degrees within 24 hours
  • excessive runny nose, headache, sore throat, coughing, sneezing or earaches related to the common cold
  • vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours
  • symptoms of childhood diseases (i.e. scarlet fever, chicken pox, mumps, measles or whooping cough) until released by a doctor to return to school
  • Croup or a croupy cough
  • Unexplained rashes or skin infections (ringworm, impetigo, etc.) until released by a doctor to return to school
  • Pink eye or other infection until medication has been dispensed for a full 24 hours

If your child displays symptoms during school or is injured, parents will be contacted to arrange pick-up of their child within one hour. Until pickup, your child will be cared for apart from the other children.

If your child is injured at school and emergency contacts cannot be reached, Little Fishers Preschool may call the child’s doctor or an ambulance as necessary, while continuing to try to reach the parent or other emergency contact.

Further information is available in the Student/Parent handbook.

We pay strict attention to food allergies and closely monitor snacks and lunches to prevent allergic reactions.

If your child has a food allergy, please indicate so on your child’s “About My Child” form. An “Allergy Emergency Plan” signed by the child’s physician must be on file in the office.

We post allergies so that every teacher, teacher’s assistant, or substitute teacher is aware of a child’s allergies. Copies of students’ “Allergy Emergency Plan” and any necessary medications are kept in teacher’s emergency bags, which they carry with them at all times.

Further information is available in the school handbook.

Little Fishers is a Christian preschool, which operates as a ministry of Fishers of Men Lutheran Church. We offer daily prayers in our classrooms, and our students learn stories from the Bible and about Jesus. We use the Christian curriculums “Little Lambs” for our 18-month-olds and two-year-olds, and the “One-in-Christ” curriculum for all other students. Our students attend chapel every Thursday, which is led by Fishers of Men Lutheran Church’s pastor, our preschool director, or worship leader. Parents and guests are welcome to attend chapel once we establish a routine.
