Teacher’s Corner

IMG 7841 Teachers CornerThe staff gathered here truly love what they do and want to be here with your child. Some have education degrees and some have early childhood degrees. Every staff member keeps abreast of new developments in the early childhood field through annual training. Teachers are expected to receive a minimum of 25 hours of training each school year. They obtain these hours through local or state early childhood conferences. They are dedicated to giving each child the feeling of being loved and accepted in a Christian environment. With God’s help, we strive to provide you and your child with a positive early learning experience.

Cathy Shisler, Preschool Director; 2009 – present

MsCathyShisler 225x300 Teachers CornerEarly Childhood Education in Lutheran congregations has been one of my greatest passions since 1986. I had the privilege of teaching for over twenty years with two and three year olds in two other Lutheran Preschools, one here in Houston and one in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Mark and I have two grown sons, Aaron and Adam that are married and live in the Houston area. We enjoy our family time when we can get together with them. Our boys attended a Lutheran school in Houston and as parents, we were very involved in the School Board, and Parent/Teacher Volunteering to help their school.I am a part of the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church family. The goal for Little Fishers Preschool is to make it a safe, fun learning environment where we can praise Jesus too! We want all our families to feel welcome and to know we care about each one of them. Every day the staff opens with devotion and prays for our students, and their families. Kelly, my assistant, or I would love to give you a tour of our great preschool. We have so much to share with you regarding our staff, schedule, curriculum, and enrichment classes. Please call to schedule a time or just come by.

Since moving to Sugar Land in 2000 my family and I have been tremendously blessed as members at Fishers. Our three boys, who are now ages 14 and 11 (twin 11 year olds), also attended Little Fishers during their preschool years and were given a wonderful first school experience. I hope to give that kind of positive first school experience back to my students and their families each new school year. Linda Cardenas, 4 Year Old Pre-K Teacher; 2009 – present

MsLindaCardenas 225x300 Teachers CornerMy name is Linda Cardenas. I’m married with a daughter in college, majoring in education. I have been teaching preschool for 13 years. Teaching preschool was not in my plans when I graduated college. It was something that came later in life. When my daughter was in Kindergarten, I was spending a lot of time volunteering in her classroom and I loved it. Her teacher told me that I was a natural-born teacher and that I should pursue it, which I did. Thank God! I’ve never looked back. Other than being a mom, teaching is the most fun, challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever done.
